Abney Park cemetery
May. 10th, 2007 09:34 amAs it was windy and rainy I went for a walk round Abney Park last evening, but for some reason I couldn't find my favourite gravestone lion. (photos above are from a previous visit). It IS a bit more overgrown than last time tho.
Looking at the passive stone angels I thought of adding some to a vampire-type portrait, with blood on their grey stony necks. Its more surreal than horrific. Or, which suits me better, horrifically surreal.
(NB I'd like to see a FURIOUS angel-sculpture with its wings fully stretched. Angels' wings are like eagels' not doves, regardless of the fact they're usually depicted, illogically, in grey or white).
I have to say that I absolutely scared the BeJesus out of myself imagining the grate of a head turning on its granite neck behind me.
