My best bud Alan said he was bringing over a fantastic surprise....to my intense disappointment it turned out to be chess related (he is a Grand Master, I am rubbish (even my donut brother can beat me).

However, THIS electronic chess set (his third... yawn) has a difference that IS fantastic...it has sound effects!

Its based on the sound of a Medieval Tournament or battle, with fanfares, clashing metal, snorting, neighing and clip-clopping, portcullis thundering, and best of all, the ecclesiastical sounds that accompany the Bishops' every move.

The best part is when a man is taken...each piece makes a different sound of fatal injury eg:

pawn....Duhhh
Castle....Crump-Slam-Ahh-thud
Bishop .....Ahhhh + monky choir accompaniment
Queen....Eeeeeeewwww, Ahh, Uh and fanfare

So Alan set up a game to play the machine and managed to take its Queen and go on the Check-mate it. I was howling 'never mind flippin tactics, just TAKE PIECES', but actually I got to hear them all anyway.

GOOD chess at last!!!! I even want to learn to play properly too.
