Brave New Dev...Not
Nov. 18th, 2007 12:37 pmSaturday:
I helped with routine car maintenance (unusually got it parked right outside my front door instead of about 10 spaces along, or at Alan's) There was half a tree full of leaves in all the grills and things, from being parked under the same, now-bare, tree every night. I don't know how the air-con and everything worked but its designed to cope. That'll be Vorsprung Durch Technik.
After that we drove up Holloway, then I said I wanted to go over to Camden and look at The Dev, since there has been such wailing and gnashing over it lately.
It looked, ESSENTIALLY, the same as last time.
I knew they hadn't minimalised it in neutrals with strip-lighting and steel benches, but I was expecting at LEAST a noticeable change in the general appearance (eg I read that the lights had been turned up).
There were some stupid-looking jolly roger flags; other bits of wall seemed barer, but some familiar black/purple/magenta goff art was still around.
Unless that's new and is the work of the Wall-of-Flesh behind the bar. This divides 60-40 between two male individuals. They seem quite placid on the surface, as with most bovine creatures.
The loos have most certainly NOT been upgraded...they are VILE as ever.
My one TOWERING CRITICISM however is the PRICING! £4.80 for two cans of Red Bull?! Do they think they have Cult Status or something? Even the Islington 'Hope and Anchor' and Shoreditch's 'Dirty Dicks' kept their prices modest.
Later on, after we'd loaded up with tons of provisions, we drove to join Donna and Jester. D has bought tickets for us all to go to Antichrist next Friday. What a (fallen) angel!

Police blasting thru Camden traffic at about 85mph. Lucky swine.
