wot I've been up to....
Jan. 30th, 2008 05:03 pmI've been painting all thru the night since before Christmas, doing portraits and my own stuff.
That's it. No clubs, parties, pubs or gigs, just painting.
The commercial work I do consists almost entirely of line drawings for foreign publications...VERY rarely do I get painting work, even rarer are portraits, as outside of LJ and the grape vine I'm not known for doing them. And until very recently (under a year) all my OWN work was in pen and ink and mixed media too.
So I'm finding it a challenge to translate my visual ideas and imagery into pure, 'proper!' painting.
Portraits are excellent because they pin down the subject matter...primarily a LIKENESS, and when I work on one, its really a good way to learn how to paint and to evolve a way of painting that is my signature.

The Long-Distance Painter....3-night max.
I have twigged on to the value of eating a lot and regularly, thanks to expert advice from
deltress, as I tend to burn off energy very fast, so I haven't lost too much weight during these weeks of 24-hour days. (These include a couple of loooooong sleeps when my system eventually dictates shut-down...after 3 nights)
I do consume a lot of 'empty calories' while I'm working at night tho (eg 6 chunky KitKats in a night) and I'm smoking again.
Normally I eat very healthily but there's something about painting at night that discourages it.

( The Night diet is about as healthy as Chernobyl or Wales.
BUT...note the healthy green cress there peops)
