Brick Lane possible/probable
Aug. 27th, 2008 05:40 amAfter a none-too-great art year, its nice to get a break. Michel de Saint-Ouen of the Society for Art of Imagination is POISanolly doing me a fabby new web gallery thing on the newly revamped (ITS CRAP!!!) site, and I can submit 3 paintings for consideration, for the November exhibition at Brick Lane.
The AOI seems a cosy, cliquey little outfit to be inside of*; you forget it has widespread international memberhip and at the whisper of an exhibition in Central-ish London, thousands of brilliant artists are suddenly swarming all over it.
It will be judged by a NEUTRAL panel; a modestly respectable prize of £2000 is up fr'grabs.
Mainly, it'll be GREAT seeing all the artists I'm pals with that have fled London--the Pagan Stone Thrower and his twin brother the Puppeteer!, currently working the farm in Somerset... coolest Journey Boy in Manchester, gruffly Eike Erzmoneit in Berlin,(returning to Hoxton) Travis Louie in NYC! (i posted his work on LJ once) and many more... I can't wait to see them all again and look at their new work!
Beforehand I'll go along and help Michel and others hang the work. Last did this at The Mall Galleries exhib. last spring --before that at Lauderdale House (in Waterlow Park!) --and it was great fun. Brick Lane is WAY better than those locations tho IMO
* Hmmm, wonder what fellow-member
