It turned out to be one of those rare occasions that actually EXCEED expectations, so I can cheerfully say that was the most frightening night of my life!
Some of the guys in our group of 12 were Met officers and they were great to have around. I stuck with the two other girls - esp. for going to the loo with! - but still got lost at one point; it was seriously scary realising I was in the almost pitch black dungeon maze and hadn't a clue where the others were.
And, apropos my earlier fears, all it WAS was a 5-hour seance in effect, because the night comprised going to 4 locations inside the area which the Dungeons now fill, and basically asking THINGS to make their presence felt.
I was silently willing them NOT TO BOTHER and perhaps that's why there was actually quite a lot of activity around me : ((
The scariest bit was in the Sweeney Todd area where we had to sit on these HORRIBLE high backed chairs (NB all the seance things were in pitch blackness as we had to switch off all our torches to begin).
I felt kind of tingles digging into me all over, which had happened earlier and I (TRIED to) put it down to a funny sort of pins + needles.
It got more noticeable in that room and I felt very scared so I said I wanted to sit somewhere else.
One guy sat in my seat, we put out the torches again, and immediately his chair scraped across the floor about ten inches!
We were all really shaken up by that.
After a break back in the Shop area we returned and asked him to sit back in it again for photos, and he DID-- in the dark!
We kinda imagined things might show up in the pics that we did not see, but there's nothing in mine (see photos under the cut)
There were two monitor screens that we watched volunteers sitting in tiny rooms/ cupboard on their own. Nothing much happened except some little moving lights; I would not have sat alone in there for a fortune.
Later on a door opened and banged shut twice and there were a lot of funny clicks and various sort of muffled sounds, a HORRIBLE clear shuffling sound, an odour, cold sensations and (I don't believe these!) -- a horse snuffling and a child's voice.
All the textbook ghostly occurrences you read about, in other words.
I really don't know what to make of it TBH.

( These are places where things seemed to happen. (I am only looking at these flash photos NOW in broad daylight!) )
