largest volcano at Rincon de la Vieja - Volcan Santa Maria

Volcan Poas - active and 30 mins journey away; it was cordonned off because of activity that consisted of a grande terremoto (earthquake) and 12 aftershocks. My bed jumped right off the floor and my path thru the jungle was so badly destroyed I got totally lost a half dozen afterwards. No joke.

Volcan, or Cerro, Platanar and the rain-forest mountain I lived on opposite (never got the Costa Rican spanish name fr the exact bit) and a beautiful little Laguna (but with caymans and iguanas so not enterable even on horseback)
Unfortunately the plane did not go over Volcan Aranel but I have loads of pics of it - it really is a proper BAD volcano, its GURRREAT
