Los Volcanes y El Terremoto

Volcanic behaviour became more intense after an earthquake at San Miguel. The Poas was put out of bounds by police as for one thing its fumeroles became blisteringly hot. The Platanar also hotted up and its spa waters became even more unpredictable; you are given lots of warnings to get out if the water feels like its getting too hot, but sometimes it can suddenly SCALD.
Volcan Irazu and a huge number of smaller satellites (Los Volcanes Basados en los satelites) were also being treated with caution, but the real spitfire, the Arenal, did not even require vigilance to make its volatile state clear.
All of which suited me right down to the shaky ground : D

El Terremoto (viejo) - From the Air.....

This was an incredible thing to see shortly after take off from San Jose - the unmistakable effects of a previous earthquake.

Last Night

I am haggard!
Last night brought sharp realisation of loss and absence when I suddenly woke up - alone -after tactile, turbulent dreams of Costa Rica.
The worst thing is I thought I was still THERE and had only to wait a couple of hours b4 finding who/what i wanted SO much to see etc.
Then I realised how utterly QUIET it was (i live on a v. quiet little road here by London Fields) - no screeches, no hoots, no queer warbles and no rushing water from the white-froth mountain stream that should have been galloping on the other side of the wall.
Its wasn't just erotic/human loss -- the leopard was gone, and my adorable 'ferocious' ocelot, and tigrillo and poor jaguarandi-- even the tapir that swam across the lake for a biscuit and that awful monkey in quarantine that grabbed your ankle with its tail.
The list grew as I missed the butterflies and the lizards and the screetchy parrots and the sloth ---- AND oh no WHERE'S ARISTA?!? - and just all the GREEN STUFF .....

So that's why I am haggard, and desolate too.

I bloody wish I'd never gone now : ((

Here is Panzer with a HUGE hole I found by parting his chest fur. That must have happened while I was away as its almost healed.
So there's ANOTHER reason I shouldn't have gone!

Purge

I'm spring-cleaning!
So - having got the bug I shall now apply it m'LJ*.

NB chopping my (seldom-used) Facebok Flist was so exhilarating last year.
The joy of deletion is a sweet thing....I LOVE deleting photos on my cameras, ripping up old sketches, throwing out shit etc etc.
Its deconstruction ffs

*If you're deleted, its nothing personal - its just that I feel uncomfortable having unseen, unknown and non-commenting 'Friends'
(the contemporary use of that word is absolutely gash).

However, there are one or maybe two on there who, I think, didn't reply to a comment of mine last year and haven't commented here either. So, 'bye : )

Actually, lets see who's quick on the draw ---- go fr your mouses y'yellow-bellied pond-life! Delete me b4 i delete U !!!
