Lovecraft disturbance
Mar. 5th, 2009 12:57 pmH.P.Lovecraft : I have not read his stories since teenage and yet in the early hours of this morning I had the most DIRE creepy nightmare straight out of one of them.
I have since identified/remembered the culprit-book as 'The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward' (think that's correct).
The nightmare focused solely on one almost throwaway description of deep holes in the floor of an accursed building with THINGS at the bottom of them ...
I have always thought the absolute WORST that could happen would be to fall down one of those holes.
And in my horrid nightmare I did : (
I knew that story would lurk about and pounce one day.

this sort of fetid undergrowth was in it too
