outdoor life
Jun. 23rd, 2009 09:12 amI'm really getting into selling stuff outdoors now! --there's a brilliant, odd assortment of people at it from a barrister to an accountant, and I've made some good friends already; Vanula who makes jewellery from semi-precious stones, Deborah who helps organise the Notting Hill carnival, Daniel who has a shop too, Joel a sculptor....etc.
I wish I'd thought of this before instead of just lazily selling prints and linework drawing via my agents who all take 50%.
I still have quite a bit of work with them but a sudden drop this spring made me look to alternatives.
I might try selling prints myself actually -- maybe as cards....not sure how (my) art would go down but its worth finding out.
I'm making very little, so far - on average £60 a day (less overheads) but I'm still finding out what sells where etc. There's potential to make much more by selling stuff that you make, e.g.
enlyyl might do very well as I haven't seen anything as good or unique as her creations anywhere.
Likewise
vampyresheep's wonderful handpainted glassware.....http://www.blacksheepglass.co.uk/

this is the Holloway Road site (opposite the Odeon) at 5am. (the time on my Sony cybershot is STILL set for another hemisphere!)
