fotos from Frieze, Regents Park
Oct. 16th, 2009 12:55 amI left my camera in the cloakroom - and then fumed because i needn't have! I took these pics in the Sculpture Park outside.
My friend C.N. who'd got complimentary tickets for the fair, bought me the catalogue/year book, so I'm now swotting up on some contemporary art - something i usually keep at arm's length.
In particular I loved some pieces by Schinwald and Ruffo and both of us were strangely drawn into a small painting by George Shaw.
And for the glitterati --
The Chapman bros were there in person(s) with a lot of slippery white porcelain. I always love seeing the things they make (nb the current room full of pseudo masks in tate britain -- that is BRILLIANT).
D. Hirst was there too, also at the White Cube pavilion, along with Tracy Emin and her c-word scrawls. Personally i question the truth of the statement 'my cunt was wet with fear' - it just doesn't ring true does it? Sometimes i think that woman makes things up.
Also Gilbert & George. I have never *got* their stuff, and neither has mon ami which is always nice to know.
United in bafflement. Or disaffection. *Its all about the money*.
