Mindfulness
Nov. 10th, 2009 02:48 pmis my new watchword. I've had it with doing mental gymnastics to avoid dwelling on the hideousness of the world; i've run myself ragged trying to dodge and divert (images/news about animal/people cruelty, abuse, species extinction, world-fuck etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.....)
The concept was suggested by the last psychologist i asked my GP for a referral to, K. O'Keefe. I have not felt impelled to go to any further sessions nor to a proper "Mindfulness" group. I've found that the concept alone and what i've made of it, has worked very well.
It comprises being AWARE of distressfulness whilst not letting its content encroach upon nor overshadow my general outlook.
NB there is NO FUCKING WAY i am ever going to closet myself in a sugary sweet smiley cutesy escapist world. Especially as I have just found out about a lot of proper disturbing films i've not seen.
ION...
