Fearful Symmetry
Mar. 14th, 2008 11:11 pmThis is the most beautiful and terrible thing in the world.
I have been enthralled by the B-2 Spirit since its inception in 1988 (deployed 1993).
Aftermath 13 (2003) in my series is named Stealth.
The 110∘angle is the most lovely and strange thing in the world.
Because Stealth was designed almost entirely by computers;
who knows what ancient codes they may have tapped. You just need to look at one of the US's 21* B-2s alongside other aircraft to see that it is not quite of this world in a way that Concorde never suggested.
What's spookier is a feeling of vague recognition.
I'm going to use that angle again but in a painting this time, and probably many more in future.
Spooky
*they are supposed to have only 20 since the Cold War, but have refurbished a test model-- who could resist?
