A W Smyth-implacable
I am psyched up for the second round of persuading Alan to continue giving me driving lessons so I can pass my test.
These were abruptly halted last year when it became evident that the engine had suffered SOME damage. Alan insists it was me braking without engaging the clutch, esp.in 1st gear...says that wrecked the tensioner. My first argument was-- like hell it was me! We split the garage costs 50/50 as with everything else carwise.
Now i have conceded that point but only so I can get to argument 2, viz-now I realise how easy it is to wreck an Audi 2.5L engine in excellent nick (what a concession!) i could not possibly make that mistake again EVER (ie I only did it cos it didn't seem that big of a deal--well to be honest, it didn't)
Jeez tho...I spent over an hour on this last night in the car outside with that obdurate man (I found an online Thesaurus today, incidentally)
Actually, the MOT is due so its going to the garage anyway. If I WAS going to wreck the engine, now would be a good time to do it (obviously it would not be politic to include this last in my arguement)
this photo was taken of me watching TV (or trying to as I knew I was getting my photo taken and usually I'm rotten unphotogenic).
I've not watched TV since 9/12/07. After Father Ted there was nothing else I wanted to see tho.
SMR--transfixed
More: the main problem with going halves on a car that only one person can drive is that NEITHER really wants to entrust it to a novice driver. I mean, I don't want me driving it!
Because Alan has been driving big-engine cars for like 500 years and is a natural as well, (he says I'm not but I don't believe it...I feel excellent behind the wheel) there is not a single mark on our car.
When you're in traffic surrounded by dented battered vehicles as standard, you really appreciate how hard that is (given that there are some absurdly THICK, panicky and downright criminal drivers out there ready to bash the car FOR you.)
