I've seen a declawed cat.
An American couple had their cat sent over and it could be seen creeping around the tree in their garden when they shut it outside.
I had no idea what had been done to it as routine in US; I genuinely asked if it had been injured at some time, or just traumatised by the flight over.
The ill-effects are THAT noticeable.
The practice of declawing cats is widespread in America but banned in over 15 European countries.
I don't intend posting photos of maimed animals--there are plenty of websites that can show you the effects of this procedure in mobility, behaviour and complications etc.
Suffice to say I have been sickened by this, and incensed by the American attitude that the animal they have 'rescued'/given a home, 'OWES them big time'.
West Ca. has now made some headway in opposing the practice. You can help this attitude spread in the US by emailing support via this
http://www.pawproject.com/html/
This (unfinished) work Aftermath 15 'Animal', which I began shortly after, shows how the paws are mutilated. (NB the cat, unlike other animals, walks on its toes--another very OBVIOUS reason not to declaw).

Well, it saved me having to say say what I think of the arrogant, self-serving, moronic, scum-sucking evil degenerates of the US of poxy A.
**I came upon this website by a PRO Declawer. This woman has care of many cats, which she enthusiastically cripples.
You can write to her too. I did, but in a cool detached manner.
Its great fun tho-- treat yourselves!
