Sheesh, had a nightmare journey thru the West End last night when the GPS fell off the windscreen (my fault, I hadn't fixed it properly) and we were suddenly without lane info in Haymarket just as the heavens opened and visibility became almost zero!
I know my way around central London pretty well-I used to live at High Holborn-but the traffic system is another matter entirely. It seemed every way we wanted to go was suddenly a one-way street or a 'no left turn' etc. Drove round Trafalgar Square twice before getting on track for Bloomsbury and good old Theobalds Road (its a straight run to the Angel and home from there)
Thankfully the GPS is working fine again, but it just shows how crucial it is to have, if only tell you what lane you should be in.
I have a bad feeling there may be a traffic violation fine in the post tho.
I'm going back down by bus shortly; I haven't the heart to phone Alan and ask him to drive there!

for no reason at all, photo of da boys play-fighting beside me,
