Nostalgia Up Yours
Oct. 7th, 2008 06:23 amI wound up doing a Memory Lane trip - (gads!) - yesterday; tho most of the best stuff would involve a trip up North to Leeds (F-Club, host to almost all the punk /post punk bands- up to 4 a week) and Manchester (The Factory, Hacienda etc + Old Trafford)
London was nearly all friends' parties- we only did Clubs* when they had bands on (dimly remember 90's Slimes) but we did have the run of the two mansions, no.s 9 and 11, opposite Charles Dickens old house on Doughty Street, via Short-Life (heh- as in ad infinitum) Community Housing, Kings X.
It hasn't changed much round there....they cut down one of the walnut trees but not the enormous one...some of the warren of tunnels and passageways we made between the houses above and below ground have been, um edited.
The people there are very nice and mild.
Then - quick reccy to the vicinity of the Padded Cell (evil basement club off Hyde Park Corner) - now a slutty wine bar - before Marylebone High Street *sigh* then (after the only piece of work-type business at the Railings Gallery there) home via Islington.
This is my present-to-me for not even smoking so much as ONE PUFF since Friday.
Cz "I don't smoke" heheh

Angora jumper from charity shop at The Angel.
After hand wash + conditioning, I added little safety pins up the sleeves in a sort of herringbone pattern. Nice.
* oh, actually now i think of it we DID do quite a few as far out as Camden ...and Brixton! Memorable = opening night of The Fridge, which became a regular haunt fr us, the Last Gang!
Camden = scene generally considered too heavymetalley-hippy, too straight and way too tame; tho the market was better than Notting Hill for 2nd hand + vintage and ALWAYS went to the jazz club in the middle for the Saturday lunchtime sesh.
Improvisation! - that's what the whole lot of it was all about!
