decided Costa Rica!
Dec. 1st, 2008 11:28 amSpent all morning on the phone - I'm off to stay at the Las Pumas wildcat rescue centre in Guanacaste flying out on 4th January to San Jose via NYC (back on 2nd Feb 09).
For some daft reason I had the idea that apart from a few jungley bits around the airport Costa Rica was a bit of a rubbish area --sort of scrubby and cloudy looking and well, generally rough. My criteria in deciding was all about climate, wet and dry seasons, terrain, vetinary assistance/training, facilities and accommodation.
So then I looked at some pics of the country AFTER deciding and paying etc.
It isn't!

Even better, I've been hearing about the animals at Las Pumas and there are a great many leopards as well as cougars, jaguars and smaller wildcats like ocelots (gorgeous cats!) also monkeys, marmosets, porcupines, macaws etc etc.
