Mr Smyth has been thinking of buying a laptop fr a while, and I could use one whilst travelling, so we're gonna split a 2nd hand Apple laptop if I cn find one. Actually he said he'll pay 4 it, but nooooooo

I'm not that bothered...it will do me good to get off-line. I WILL be pretty cut off tho....I've got the use of a house that's even further up the mountain than the rescue centre, which by necessity must be as remote as possible. (the reason I chose this volunteer programme)
'Barry' and his man over there have engineered this. Being 'An Artist' (spit) has its advantages and I'm not afraid to wield em if necessary--'I vant to be alone' etc....so naturally I made it clear from the start that I don't do communal living, and that REMOTE is the key word.
When Barry hopefully mentioned, in the Lewisham office, that they have a house fr 5 on the outskirts of San Carlos, he met an unblinking, level gaze.
Hence the mountain abode and possible need 4 a lappy.

I don't see me finding a dirt cheap PowerBook running Now leopard, with at least a gig RAM and at least 1.67 GHz cruise, within the next 2 weeks.
What has really amazed me is how many people seem not to know that much about Macs...on E-Bay y'have 14 people bidding up a Notebook that's running Tiger10.4 and has 512Mb RAM.
They're already totally STUFFED fr upgrade...even their system apps are nigh obsolete.

(Hello i've just moved in next door.....*yikes*)
