Dali Universe, County Hall yesterday
Jan. 10th, 2010 12:15 pm- Went to the Dali Universe exhib. yesterday with five of the guys (inc. 3 who started it, Nick, Zolan and Tal--- normal native Londoners despite the bad sci-fi names) from the London Arts & Culture Group. I loved it and the whole lush, louche way it was presented.
- Spent a long time poring over - surprise - the untouched Goya prints from Dali's 1970's rendering where he added his own variable scatology (the peurile content is n x cartoon ejaculations, tho they are drawn with good, rude pen strokes).
- Aside from Goya's, there were early prints and drawings to pore over more by Picasso., Braque, Breton and others as well the huge number by Dali himself.
- The more spectacular 2- and 3-D works I found unusually beguiling ( *not* a fan of Dali's) in that lovely long, low-ceilinged, dark salon setting.
- In fact, that whole exhibition had an opiate quality about it ---giving words like 'curious' and 'enchanting' a prod.
- I didn't stay to socialise afterwards in the 'Fire Station' again - i felt quite exhausted actually. It meant that I walked into a blizzard on my own tho and as usual walked in the wrong direction - Waterloo instead of London Bridge. Also i hung about taking a lot of photos. Anyway i got a timely call from friend who had just moved into another apartment in Chelsea, inviting me round fr dinner 'and get into a bloody cab darling!'
- I didn't accept, and i couldn't see any cabs, but he talked me the whole way back thru the blizzardy streets to Charing Cross which was *nice*.
- Some photos....

There WAS an lj-cut amongst this lot, but i messed about with the html/rich text LJ buttons.....
